Derek Snowdon and EllenM thought it was a good idea so here goes. The challenge is to paint a beach scene with the eye level as in a seated position . lots of people ,deck chairs ,wind shields ,kids playing ,lying figures cooking the flesh ,brave souls in the water, Well I think you have got the idea. ....I know that there are good seascape painters out there but this is not a seascape challenge. Bet you someone thinks it is and my words will have been wasted.I hope that all our artists will comment on the paintings to show appreciation or give some gentle constructive advice.Happy Painting.....Syd. PS This is a birds eye view unfortunately.

I've cheated a bit here, Syd. I painted this a couple of years ago, but when I'm freed up a bit I'll try another one for you. Ellen
Gosh Ellen, when I saw your painting I thought you must be a very quick painter until I read your post! I'm in the middle of a painting at the moment Syd, but I will have a go though it's really out of my comfort zone!
Syd, I'm sorry I've tried and I've tried and I've tried again but this challenge does not suit me at all!! I'm no good at figure work and everything I tried came out wrong so I give up. I'm not usually a defeatist but this has made me cross that I am unable to do it. There has been much swearing and cursing and life is too short to worry so I surrender and walk away in shame! 😊
Those figures look great Sylvia.
Syd - you are an old-fashioned "gent" - so refreshing. And before some "liberated" ladies take me to task for saying so, I am afraid I am very old-fashioned too and see nothing wrong in it!
Hear, Hear Adele, nothing like a bit of courtesy from lovely gentlemen - I didn't burn my bra back in the sixties!!!
He-He! Definitely a gent if that's the rudest you can do Syd. Linda Wilson
I agree with Splosh 😉
Sorry folks, missed this partly due to recovery, holidays (being without WiFi), lots to do, re-organise French holiday and pure laziness. I have several in my sketch book so will try and rustle one up.
