I’m a bit older than her but that’s what I feel like.   I have a heap of torn paper and painted over pics…. Painting larger isn’t an option as I have a big vacant spot in the centre of my sight….grrrr .   So today I decided to put some of my old pics into cards.    Kept me busy and sort of creative.   Will keep on trying.   But scream time is quite frequent…oh yes my spelling hasuffered as well.o
Sylvia you are a legend. despite your deteriorating sight you continue to enjoy being creative. I love your beautiful cards. You are most definitely allowed scream time if not several of them!
Nothing wrong with screaming at the universe when it treats you badly, but don’t let it defeat you.  Keep on putting your old pics into cards, and don’t forget to pat yourself on the back….you deserve it.
Sylvia - it was Violet Elizabeth Bott - who threatened to "thcream and thcream and thcream till I'm thick - I can, too": our hearts go out to you, this must drive you mad; I'm sorry, and wish I, or any of us, could help.  As you've discovered though, there are still creative things you can do with the eyesight left to you.  This may come to me as well - my mother and aunt both developed AMD in their late 80s; but it also may not: either way, I must do what work I can while I can still see reasonably well.  Good advice for everyone, as we never know what lies in store for us: until it hits.  Life is an endurance test - with what precise end in view, I don't know: none, I think.  But you're well aware of that.
Your work is truly amazing, there are no words to express it, I can only wish you continue creating many more beautiful paintings like this!
You are a kind and understanding lot Thankyou.   I apologise if my post sounded like a whinge. It was out of frustration. Maybe abstract is a way to go.   I am bot deriding our abstract contributors as they always work to a thought…. Mine is more likely to be hit and miss. Watch this space.
I don't blame you for frustration, Sylvia.  Perhaps a foray into abstract might be eventually enjoyable. It seems you'd be in good company, Monet, Degas perhaps others became more abstract as their sight deteriorated. Sometimes it's just the pleasure of dolloping the colour onto a surface, that does it for me.
Your cards are lovely Sylvia and you are allowed to scream. Life can be frustrating but you're getting on with it.
Absolutely stunning cards Sylvia, there are still creative options for you. Frustration quite understandable, better getting it out of your system than bottling it up. I have a number of books by "accessible" contemporary abstract artists, they don't always work to a thought! Sometimes just start off and see what develops from there. You might find that rather fun. And with me the "thought" can change during the painting process, sometimes several times!
Thanks for comments.
Your Cards are Gorgeous, sending you much love and power!
