Just a quickie, has anyone had experience of using walnut ink? Especially it's lightfast qualities, the Tom Norton brand has confidence that it won't budge. The examples of work I've seen using the ink look a little weak in tone, no juicy darks! Many thanks Fiona
Hi Fiona - I've just been looking at a video on You Tube for a demo using walnut ink by Kim Fjordbotten. It is a small bottle with the walnut oil crystals that you make up. She has made some nice darks from that. Not sure about lightfastness. Perhaps it is worth taking a look.
it's pigment ink - available from Daniel Smith paint makers, and other sources. Good for dip pens, NOT fountain pens, and should be as lightfast as black Indian ink, which is very stable. The Cornelissen website observes that it's "much affected by the tone of the support" in appearance. Calligraphers use it - there's a Scriptorium version, and they seem to value it highly. So - wouldn't hesitate to employ it.
