Years ago there was a local artist that I really admired who worked in oils. Just six colours and black and white. Three hot colours and three cool colours. I believe they were Cadmium red, cadmium yellow, cobalt blue, lemon yellow, alizarine crimson and ultramarine blue. I'm waffling a bit here but someone at sometime on this site was talking about pure colours and that all the other types of colours were made up of them.
I wondered if anybody knew what pure colours were? I would save a fortune on paint if I knew ;-) .
I'll take a guess on cadmium red and yellow and , maybe, cobalt blue but I stand to be corrected .
