Just a short note, to all the people who looked at or commented on my Trow Rock painting, to let you know how it was received this weekend. My cousin, Chris, and his wife, Angela, were really pleased with the painting and couldn't have been kinder when I showed them the finished article. Angela placed it in their dining room, and we both showed the birthday boy the painting together. He hugged the breath out of me. *smile* It's a funny feeling painting for somebody else. Thanks to all for the great support.
Great result Brian - by the way, was it the same kittiwake?
Lovely piece of work, Brian. No wonder it was liked. I can relate to your 'it's a funny feeling painting for someone else.' I haven't done it often...didn't really like it...which is why I don't attempt sales or commissions. It's hard enough pleasing yourself without worry about other people.
Thanks, Marjorie, for the comments and smile. Appreciated. Ha! No, it's a different kittiwake, it's just that there's SO many of them. I reckon I'll be painting them till kingdom come. You've just got to have kittiwakes in a North East seascape. *smile* That's exactly how I felt, Lew. It was rewarding in many ways but it did affect how I approached the painting. I think if somebody bought a painting because they liked it I'd be fine, but fulfilling a particular brief was interesting, to say the least. I'd never experienced it before. Best to both Bri
I'm so glad they loved your painting Brian, I knew they would! I know what you mean about painting for someone else, I've only done one commission and I did find it a bit of a test on the nerves but luckily the drawing turned out well but you do get that feeling of 'what if they don't like it'.
Absolutely, Margaret. My nerves were frayed, but in a good way. I think. *smile* Thanks for the kind words of support. Bri
Beautiful painting Bri, of course they were thrilled with it.
Thank you very much, Sylvia and Sandra, for the kind words. It's good of you to say so but there's always that little niggle lurking in the background. I wonder if you ever get used to it, in the same way as you get used to a new job, even though you were nervous on the first day. I really appreciate you dropping in to comment. Best to both Bri
