As new painter, I find that drawing freehand for landscapes is now easier, the more I practice - I originally traced. But when it comes to living animate objects, I am still at the tracing stage from photographs I've taken...otherwise I'd give up altogether after fifteen rubbings out. It might be to do with the fact I don't see in full 3D as one of my eyes never worked too well.
