I have noticed in various galleries that when some artists paint on canvases, they frame them; others continue the picture and paint around the edges; some leave them unpainted; others paint them in a flat colour and, I have seen some with flat pieces of wood nailed to the sides without having the corners mitred! If the buyer got a splinter he could have a claim under 'Health and Safety'!
Do any of you have a preference to what you do/see? Does it bug you to have a landscape go around the edge? Does it depend whether it is a standard/deep canvas?
