Well that's the end of my 'Local Exhibition Season' for the year....An 'Open' Amateur Art Group's Annual Show for an Alzheimer's Trust to which I receive an invite to exhibit at.
A series some twenty deep edged canvases...intricately worked landscapes, fabulously painted fir-trees the work of a true photorealist artist...absolute perfection in painting around to the back edge...
Then I noticed that two of them were displayed side by side...the same tree appeared in six different sizes...the paintings showed a clear flat gloss finish and not a brush-mark in sight.
Being known by the organisers I was allowed to take one of these down to 'inspect the back...the painting was also inside the crease of the corner.
Yes,they were photo-manipulated images produced as glicee prints.
Wall-art masquerading as real art in an art exhibition...I did not have the heart to lodge any complaint.
What do you think? What would you have said/done?
