Right-o. Who's up for a real challenge and a bit of fun? Small up front cost (to buy a smallish sketchbook of a specified type, size etc), and a bit of postage and what have you. Hopefully we can persuade the POL people to publish an article or a supplement or something at the end. But first, we need some folks to sign up. The basic idea is: get sketchbook, think of theme. Write breif description of theme. Use up to a pretermined number of pages of the book to illustrate the theme within set timescale. On or before set date, pass book to next particpant. Recieve a different book. Work to that theme. Pass on. etc. The idea is not mine, but I'm running with it anyhow. I participated in the original scheme. This is the clever lady who thought of the idea: http://www.isacarmona-art.com/ This is the blog: http://covertocover-sketches.blogspot.co.uk/ This is the exhibition: http://www.open-studios.org.uk/museum.php See here for earlier thoughts and discussion and links etc: http://www.painters-online.co.uk/forum/Topic30743.aspx Contemplate. Consider. Let me know.

I am missing something here - what's the point of handing your sketchbook on to someone else? I went on a course once where the tutor asked us to start a painting and then suddenly asked us to pass it to the person on our right for them to carry on with it. I was fuming and actually refused to do it as I wanted to finish what I had started and I just couldn't see the point of the exercise. Perhaps I am just territorial but I don't quite get this idea? Need more information.
We could have books as the main attraction and maybe a monthly theme change for a "virtual" book that any POLer can have a go at, perhaps?
We won't be starting for at least a week, I think, Marjorie, so rest easy.
Sounds like an interesting idea but not one that would suit me...and would take up too much of my precious painting time. Good luck with it though and I look forward to seeing the results on POL or in The Artist.
Lovely idea, but not for me. I'd be too frightened and horrified to lose it in the post. I think this would work within an Art group where books cannot get lost easily and no onward postage at every stage is required. I like the idea of a virtual online one though.
Have tried for two days to join in but wont work..........grrr
Well what ever I did it has now worked..
