This may be of interest to anybody interested in illustration.
As happens, I've just emerged from a 2 or 3 week period where I went off art completely. For somebody who likes to draw something every day this is not a normal state of affairs.
Then, whilst looking for something else on the internet, I came across Pete Beard's videos on 'the unsung heroes of illustration.' He's an British illustrator. Over the years he's compiled a large number of these videos. They run for about 10 minutes and cover half-a-dozen artists in each video. As a fan of illustration I knew many of them, but there are far more that I didn't know. Sometimes I knew the art, but not the name of the artist...these videos are a boon for that alone.
Many cartoonists and illustrators were hugely successful and popular in their day, but are largely unknown now.
If you like illustration have a look at some. The link is...https://www.youtube.com/c/petebeard/videos.

Yes Andrew, the amount is rather startling. He's up to number 86 of the unsung heroes of illustration, plus all the videos on individual artists. I like the fact that they are NOT dealt with in cronological order, so you get a variety with each short video. And getting the names means you can search for further info on artists you like.
He turns up some interesting stuff. For example, in the 1940s-50s, when Norman Rockwell, and his many imitators, were having huge success producing paintings like this....
...there were other artists having equally great success with totally different styles...like Jim Flora below....
He thinks the 40s/50s were one of the most creative periods in illustrative art.
It's also interesting to find out that Walt Disney got some of his ideas for the dancing crocodiles and hippos for his film 'Fantasia' from Heinrich Kley...
...apparently Disney collected his art. One wonders if anything is truly original.
I think these videos are well worth dipping into now and them. I download a few, stick them on a USB stick, and watch them on my large screen TV...most of the videos are in high res.
