Did a small demo for my students today, subject was reflections in water. (used the Corot by the way) . When putting my paints out I made a point of setting out your colours logically on the palette and explained (yet again) how you need all your colours on the palette and not just the ones you think you will need. However when I go round to give advice on their paintings I see blobs of paint stuck down at random all over the palette, only the greens and blues ("because I am only doing trees and water" was the reason) , and yet again someone trying to paint on unprimed card. ("Because I will get better materials when I get better at painting") . I think sometimes I must be talking a different language.....
