So guys, that's a no no then is it? It leads on to another few of questions then and they are: (l) If you varnish a painting on a box canvas, do you then varnish the unpainted edges to protect them from getting dusty? (2) Can anyone tell me what the purpose is of using a box canvas if the sides are unpainted and (3) doesn't having all that expanse of white glaring at you, detract from the painting?
Incidentally Robert, I would love to see your "rant" in all it's glory - it shows true passion for your art!

I declare, Sylvia, men are more vain than women! Thanks for that info. Meanwhile, I couldn't resist - hope those involved have a sense of humour.
P.S. Apologies for the bad sketching, (I am no sketcher) and apologies to Mike also for making him look like Cyclops, it wasn't intentional, honest.

Brill Adele - all good fun - you must post some cartoons in the gallery. There aren't many of us cartoonists posting - in fact none at all at the present.
Must set the record straight though - yes I do like clothes but not of the ultra modern genre - wouldn't be seen in drainpipes for example. I really miss Austin Reid and apart from some local up-market men's shops which charge the earth I now have to rely on M&S. Just ordered a new pair of varifocal glasses which means no more indulgences for a while. Not obsessed by clothes and no more interested in them than most women - I just like to keep up with the times and take a bit of pride in my appearance. When I look at the clothes available I sometimes wonder who buys them - I am constantly amazed at the scruffy way people dress these days. And you don't have to be wealthy to look good.
