I am trying to create a stained glass window for a school. It is to be 40" x 40" and my original idea was to use cutout black paper and make the 'glass' from tissue in the time honoured manner. However, I have a lovely piece of pvc which I could frame and stretch a little and then paint directly onto...if I knew how. Probably. Are there durable translucent paints for this purpose or is it a lost cause?

Yes there are specialist paints for this. I bought a kit for doing it a good while ago, but never used it. If you pm me your address then I will post it to you. The paints are cold enamel. There is also a type of opaque black/grey for the lead lines. They are a brand named “Plaid”. I think they are American.
