It's been said on another thread that the Forum needs spicing up and a bit of sparkle. You may recall that there was a discussion about linking poetry with art but it seems to have got lost with the change-over so how about resurrecting it? I have added a poem below which I recently scribbled so why not do a painting inspired by it? A bit much to ask ? Perhaps a new cartoon series based on the potato or what about suggestions as to which masterpiece the poem puts you in mind of.
Well here's the poem:
POTATOES AREN’T LIKE PEOPLE
Potatoes aren’t like people.
When people lie in the sun they go red,
when potatoes lie in the sun they go green,
and afterwards people’s skin peels
but potatoes skin doesn’t.
Potatoes don’t skin people
but people do skin potatoes.
People aren’t like potatoes.
To kick things off my suggestion is Seurat's The Bathers - I can just imagine them turning red and passing round the sun cream. Whimsical maybe but a bit of sparkle and spicing up was called for - anyone got any other suggestions?
Well if nothing else I hope the poem gives you a smile.
