I don't know if this has been covered before. Sometimes, we all need reference photos. This brings up the thorny issue of copyright. I've found a website that offers pictures that come under the CC0 license...this allows free use of the photos (including commercial use) without seeking permission or attribution. The only downside is that it doesn't have a great search engine...you have to wade through it. Here it is...https://www.pexels.com/search/people/ What do you think? Any problems?
Lew ...type "Painters online "then "menu ".then "techniques and tips " then "reference material". That gets you a whole lot of copyright free photos for reference . This topic has been discussed some time ago and also the copyright was thoroughly chewed over and explaned in detail by one of our learned legal eagles. Thanks for the link to the ref. photos , they are very useful as reference materials and its all grist to the mill and helps to lnspire a start to a painting.......Cheers...Syd

Thanks Syd. I didn't know about the reference stuff here - I'm still getting used to the dark corners of this site. I didn't intend to rehash something that's already been covered. We'll wrap this up now..
Syd, I've had a look. Great stuff, but no people. That's what interests me.
Syd, it didn't enter my head that you were being dismissive. I'm newish here, and don't want to repeat stuff that's been covered...it's my intention to search out the post you mentioned and read it. Thanks for your help.
Thank you Margaret. I've done searches for 'pixabay' style sites, and somehow managed NOT to find 'pixabay'. I guess my wording used to make the search was wrong in some way. How, I don't know. There are masses of these sites, many of them requiring you to 'sign-up'...I'm a bit averse to that. This is exactly why I made this post. Now I have pixabay, which is better than the site I found. It has a better search engine...it still requires a far amount of wading through pictures to find what you want, but who can object to that when the images are so beautiful. thanks, Lew.
Thanks Pat...that should keep me going for a while. Lew
Pixabay is a good one. There is Morguefile as well. If you can tolerate the site, there is also Paint My Photo, and there is also a good image library on the Wet Canvas forum, but you have to be a member to view these. Kay M.
