Hang on Studio Wall
Message
I spent the day yesterday sorting out paintings ready for our forthcoming open studio event. In doing so I mounted a number of paintings ready for sale unframed, and framed others. I'm not sure what others do but I select the ones for framing and leave them unsealed at the rear. If I sell any on the day it only takes a few moments to seal them and the short time it takes to do this is quite useful as it means I can chat to the purchaser at the same time. The main reason I leave them unsealed, however, is because it saves me the trouble of unsealing them after the event to replace them with new paintings in the future. The paintings removed then go into the unframed section at the next event. In other words I recycle the frames as well as the paintings. It also means I am ready (assuming I don't sell them all - oh if only!) for the coming exhibition season which seems to be mainly towards the end of the year. Pity you can't leave paintings unsealed when exhibiting. It's all about recycling and I wonder if others do the same.
Don't have quite that system Michael but I am well into recycling. Yours are mainly watercolours?
Yes Derek, mostly watercolours plus abstract acrylic inks - all my work is behind glass.
