We went to this years Summer Exhibition today and were VERY disappointed. In our opinion this was the worst that we have ever been to. The hanging was dismal and the standard of works exhibited the lowest we have ever seen.
Probably the lowest of the low, was the work (?) exhibited by Tracey Emin. An almost bare canvas, with a few words scrawled across it, it would not in our opinion even rated as a poor work of graffitti.
It is not that we only like representative art, we quite enjoy abstracts as well, but the standard was so low, and what was there so badly hung.
In the words of another visitor " the hanging committee deserve to be hung". >:-(
