Hi, I have a 90cm x 90cm commissioned acrylic painting that I need to transport from London area to Scotland and I have no idea how to get it there. Can anyone help with couriers, etc... how to package the painting, etc. Thank you!

I haven't posted a painting for ages but I used to get a box from Staples or Office World but you could get online. Buy it big enough to take the painting well wrapped in bubble wrap' Put extra wrap around the corners. You can also make corners out of cardboard. Then put plenty of polystyrene chips, or similar, around the painting. Tape the package up very well. I sent it Royal Mail - next day recorded delivery. That makes sure you are insured for up to a certain amount. And your painting should be well within the weight allowed.
Did you try Hermes? Very friendly and good prices as well as excellent service within UK, however not sure if they have max size as their web goes by weight not size. I know for sure that dpd does larger parcels, you might have to check pricing direct with them as large package which is light is rather unusual and often not listed online. DHL has great services, but are expensive, so you might skip them. There are some small companies as well of course, try to check parcel2go web.
The carrier... the most dreaded part of a commission. Keep away from FEDEX..... expensive. Parcelforce haven't let me down yet. Bubble wrap. Loads of it. Extra protection on the corners and plaster FRAGILE on the outside. So far worked for me.
I agree with AGHolder - I've always used Parcelforce, no problems yet. And they also deliver my cigars without crushing them, so I've every faith..... There may be cheaper ones (Fedex obviously isn't) but being a conservative sort, I stick with what I know has worked for me. http://www.isleofwightlandscapes.net http://www.wightpaint.blogspot.co.uk
