Hi all,
I was at a picture framing course last week. Has anyone else done one or does anyone else do this as well as painting?
I decided to learn as I want to frame my own work and others' work if required. Was surprised just how much I learned in a short space of time.
I have to say, the course in Lurgan, County Armagh, was great. One to one all day tuition including lunch was £130 per day (9am to 5pm) over 2 days as an introduction and you get to frame your own stuff.
I learned how to cut various mounts (double mounts, multipul apertures etc), adding water colour wash lines around the pictures, making a box mount for displaying 3D items, and much more.
Learned to use both an electric and foot operated Morso. Taught to use a Cassese Underpinner as well as how to do some conservation framing techniques, glass cutting, dying frames using different techniques, putting photographic prints onto canvas and lots more besides.
What sort of experiences have others who have tried framing classes had? This one was excellent and I never expected to learn so much in two days, would highly recommend this course to anyone in Northern Ireland, (or beyond as there are cheap flights to Belfast international) it was more than worth the money. Also, the good folks at Prestige Pictures are great to work with, even showed me the software used to calculate each job, brilliant! :-D
