Just been having a recce through some past paintings of the gallery . I noticed that Alan had branched out into portraits. He commented that he was "out of his comfort zone " What takes you out of your comfort zone? . Is it a useful excersise ? . I am a bit of a Jill of all trades, I use a variety of medias and supports, I enjoy my figurative drawing, landscapes and still lifes, so I am not sure how this affects me. I have tried clay modeling, figures and heads and am pretty hopeless at it, my spatial awareness must be nearing zero, I know, that as a child that my plastacine efforts were mainly snakes and coiled pots. <div>Is it useful to leap into the unknown.?</div>
