I agree, made me laugh out loud!
Brilliant - I had an aunt who looked like that....
That's a beauty of a painting you have posted, Lewis. I wonder what CoCo thought of it? Looks like a 'bag lady' dressed posh. Taking a normal everyday face and making a caricature of it, I should imagine, isn't an easy thing to do, even the posture and highlighting a particular characteristic, the way a person walks or gestures. Skill indeed.

To get a work that glows, hmm. I suppose the only way is to churn pictures out. Once you get one that attracts, you have to try and replicate that power. Gets harder. Gets nasty and messy, then you find the light doesn’t burn so bright once you reach it. Force change, nothing is born without pain, only more pain if it all seems too easy. The asphyxiation of trying to find success can be your tourniquet. You learn to live with the struggle, and become masochistic. And when you are one of the best, you have won for a brief moment in time, but if you have found a new way, you will immortalise yourself in history. The ‘dark ages’ of our country’s past are so called because of the lack of art, ie pottery, pictures and architecture. Maybe you have already won by just being on the artistic spectrum. Each person defines success in a different way… mine is 0, yes, nothing. I don’t see success at any point in time. It is, of course, better to burn out than fade away. We are insane if we are different. We are normal if we conform .
