I love your abstracts Jenny. Marjorie pointed me in the direction of Paul Klee and I read about cubism, on Friday night, I didn't no anything about it before then.Saturday morning, I did the Olympian. Although I have tried to do abstract before, with this piece, I felt I could understand what this form of abstract was about. The theory and colours used in cubism just bowled me over.

It’s great to see more abstract paintings on the gallery. They’re not easy to do, and I for one am struggling for head space at the moment. That’s when the self doubt pops up.
Your chosen ones are brilliant, Jenny. Marjorie posted a fabulous one a few days back, similar in style to Paul Klee, lots of patience needed. I painted this some time ago. I called it ‘Implode’.

This is a good thread Jenny. There isn’t very much abstract on the site and it’s great to see individual styles being born.
Already some wonderful examples of work…..I’ve been looking through a few of my older ones and they are a bit tame in comparison. I don’t have a favourite, I’m not keen on any I’ve done…although I did like the dendritic ones I had a bash at but they are not really abstract, perhaps semi abstract but only because of the technique I think.

I love your choice Fiona, in particular the last two. I watched the same programme, Gillian. It was Andrew Marr on Ch 5. I too thought the ‘Weeping Woman’ was very thought provoking. I’d love to see abstracts being featured more. It was only during the second lockdown, I began to paint abstracts. I liked the freedom of using my imagination and expressing how I felt at the time.

I’m enjoying this thread. Jenny, those are really interesting. Marjorie, I too use my leftover palette of paint, I use throw away ones and always have paint leftover and not dried out. So sometimes I rub the leftover paint over a blank canvas/paper and leave it and continue to do the same. Here’s a couple I did earlier, as they say on Blue Peter.
