I have just had a cup of coffee and a lovely chat with Amanda Bates .    We have been virtual friends here on POL for several years, Amanda has a gallery and used to post on a regular basis here on the forum.  It was a really nice thing to do .  Plus I recognised her straight away she used to post self portraits on a regular basis.  So good to put people to art work.   I know Robert has also done this in the past, anyone else  done this ?
I was very fortunate to meet the lovely late Derek Snowdon when he was showing some of his work in Bournemouth a few years ago.  What a lovely man and such an accomplished artist, he was very helpful to me. I miss seeing his work and his humour. RIP Derek

Last year I met Cesare Romano and his wife when we were in Italy on holiday. We arranged to meet each other for a drink and I was worried that I wouldn't recognise him. Of course I recognised him straight away and the four of us ( my husband, too )went for lunch at a bar, nearby. A lovely man and we all enjoyed each others' company. I took with me the portrait I'd painted of him ( it's in my gallery ) and it was great to be able to give it to him in person. I never imagined that would happen! He gave me one of his watercolours. We hoped to meet him again this year but plans were put on hold , due to illness, - hopefully next year! All these friendships made through POL😀 - online and in person. Also, at Patchings, I met Dawn and saw many familiar faces. That's what makes this site so special.

Yes it is special and has a friendliness that other sites don’t have.
