Hi there, I would like to get a tutorial for egg tempera painting. Basically, I am a fabric painter. I usually do designs in textiles and never did any other paintings. But this painting really changed me the black dog at the white house. The black dog in front of the house, really made me confused. I was happy till then but after seeing this painting I feel like I am alone. I don't know what it is but my mind seemed to be confused. I am curious to know about this painting. I was searching it but unfortunately, I didn’t. What does this picture really mean? Why is it making me feel different? I am confused.
Always start with looking a technique up on wiki...its that simple. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tempera Now I'm confused..what painting?
I'd say that the painting has a sense of loneliness with the lost dog. But has it a meaning?I don't know. I've looked for paintings with a similar mood. Can't find many, how about these: http://www.edwardhopper.net/images/paintings/automat.jpg http://www.edwardhopper.net/images/paintings/newyork-movie.jpg
If you find a literal meaning in a painting, it can be a remarkably dull painting. You would hope that any painting would have layers of meaning, which could not be conveyed in words - if the meaning could be so conveyed: well, it would be easier, quicker, and more rational to actually use words rather than paint. I agree with Phil that there are many tutorials on all aspects of painting if you explore the internet - and of course there are books. The problem lies in differentiating between the good and the bad information, but the clue there is to look at the work produced by whoever is trying to demonstrate it; if the work doesn't convince, try some other source. http://www.isleofwightlandscapes.net http://www.wightpaint.blogspot.co.uk
