Kitsch art is one of those art forms which are hard to define and yet we all think we know what it is. I have tended to look down my nose at it in the past and in my own work I have tried to avoid it - biscuit tin images? And yet when looking at works around the world I have been quite entranced by some of the works which I guess fall into this category. Whilst I am not converted by paintings in this category I do find some of the sculptures quite breathtaking. One artist I would pull out and whose work I have seen in several museums/galleries around Europe is Jeff Koons. Bright, colouful, garish maybe but I just love his work. I guess I am not alone as he is always popular among the general public but am I alone among other artists?
