Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I visited the the Kith and Kinship exhibition at The Bowes Museum last week - amazing! I’m a big fan of Norman Cornish, and still can’t quite believe he was painting around five miles from my home town - the paintings featured in this show tell such a vivid story of life in a northern pit town. L.S Lowry was again a superb storyteller and his work is equally as eloquent as Cornish’s. If you’re in the area I’d highly recommend a visit, being up close to both of these artists’ work is truly humbling.
It looks interesting Anthony, I'm not going to get to Durham in the forseeable, but I presume they have a permanent collection.  Somewhere to visit if I ever got to the miners Gala.
Definitely Norrette, the collection is truly stunning. I’d recommend the mining art and Spanish art galleries just down the road in Bishop Auckland as well.
I’m also a big fan of Norman Cornish and would love to visit the Bowes, but sadly too far from Gloucestershire!
Yes, a bit of a trek 😊 20 minutes for us!
