I've been to Patchings Art Festival this morning with my husband in tow.....he likes to drive me if its not local since my stroke last July. Anyway, we began with coffee and a cake, as you do, then went around the various marquees. Well I was like a kid in a sweet shop when it got to paint, paper and brushes. I purchased all the things on my list and my dear husband carried it all. It was a great atmosphere and even my husband enjoyed it, him being a non painter/artist. If nothing else it spurs me on to keep doing what I'm doing, and also to belong to a great community. Ellen
Well Ellen, I've been painting for longer than I can remember and I still get a thrill as I did at Patchings on Thursday meeting up with folk (and sadly missing others). Only this morning I came across a new gallery, well new to me, where it looks promising that I may be able to exhibit in the future - be good if I can as a couple of galleries where I used to exhibit have closed - a sign of the times. That's what makes it so exciting - always looking ahead and planning and artists are a great bunch of folk as they are here on POL for example. Anyway I'm got an open garden and studio tomorrow and just about ready for it - over 300 visitors last year although most only came to see the garden - everything looks pristine and the studio looks more like a gallery than a working space - but that'll soon change once they've gone !!!!

Glad you enjoyed the festival Ellen and had a lot of retail therapy. There are a lot of us who think their work is not as good as others but there is nothing like going round galleries and festivals, etc. to see that perhaps we might be able to give them a run for their money. Enjoy your new goodies: Good luck tomorrow Michael, hope the weather is decent.
