I just discovered a great way to look at things when painting so that I can clearly see lights and darks and colours but not details. Wear my reading glasses!.
I just looked at some sheep out of my kitchen window and the light on their backs, shadows underneath and different tones and colours were really clear yet I couldn't see a single detail. This may be the cure for me putting far too much detail in my paintings. Off to practice sheep.
