Before starting a painting, how does one decide what size support to use? I ask this because unless I consider this decision carefully (and careful is not my middle name...'impulsive' is, and I have never had the sense or time to change this ) I find that I have committed myself, in my enthusiasm to paint, to an impossible size which is not going to be compatible with any of the more affordable mounts and/or frames. So, in order to avoid this dilemma, which can be time consuming, limiting and frustrating, involving searching for and getting, a suitable mount etc, what do I do? What do you do? Do you paint always on pre-determined sizes, for which you know mounts and frames are readily available? I can see many advantages to this, but it must also have disadvantages?
