A question for me only. Here in Newquay with about 50 other like Eriba caravans on a rally. Got the full sketching gear as usual but where is the skerch book??????? On my easel at home, having snapped my Urban Sk. Went to Trerice NT place yesterday, wife intending to view the house and me sketch. Hah! Newquay is full of lager pubs but no arty farty shops. Have scrounged a few sheets of A14 copy paper from the office so that will do.
Perhaps time to explore the skills of the acrylite in painting stones, bark and cheap white plates from gift shoppes. Or perhaps to pop a small collection of sketch books into said caravan? D
Does Newquay not have a B&M or pound shop? Grab a cheapy cheap "painters art book" - they are generally rubbish for painting (rough paper, almost blotting paper, 170 gsm (claimed!)) but they'd do well for sketching. Edit - "How daft am I?" - Dafty Daftinton? Dafty McDaftFace?

Not sure which New Quay...welsh one or Kernowish one. Ah, Maps says Trerice is Kernow. Truro Arts Company 26 River St Truro Cornwall. TR1 2SJ About 13 minutes by car. They sell all sorts of sketch books and paper according to their website D
Not wanting to make the same error, I am making a list as I am off for an artistic few days by the coast and I have started my new sketch book I'd be so very annoyed with myself if I left it behind. Glad you posted your mishap, but sorry you left home without your book :(
I've lost count of the number of times I've driven somewhere to take some reference photos only to find no memory card in my camera. Or taken my sketchbook somewhere but no pencil. Or paints but no brush. I have a range of materials I've bought from the stationery section in newsagents - scribble pads, children's pencil crayons etc. Kay
None of you are alone - I do it all the time - one of my current favourites is to forget to charge the camera and the phone. I do a few demos and my worst nightmare is leaving a key piece of kit at home - not happened yet but I live in dread - that reminds me - I'm doing a twig and ink demo tomorrow - now I'm getting really worried. PS Also checking a dozen times that I've got my tickets, wallet, passport and did we really make sure the gas was turned off etc etc.
Thanks all. I did manage one ink and wash sketch en plein aire. Paper poor for the wash of course. Decided to be grumpy and live with it withpout travellin miles to find art shops or more poor paper having got loads of good stuff at hom. Finally had real good day sketching people, in pencil and ink and will post them later, we still unpacking having arived home.
