Does anyone feel we are in the above category. People asking about value for pictures etc. Asking questions that could be answered by Google . Using us for Their research . discuss.....Syd.
Seems a bit like it Syd, - agony aunts and Uncles eh what?
I think the forum is the place to put all your arty problems. Perhaps it veers towards a place where some place there other problems as well, but we are human and should be able to cope with a bit of that. E.g. I would just like to say that I will miss you all when I am on my winter hols.
what have you told your other half what art materials you want for Christmas ,,I am easy all I want are some paints ,brushes ,and err let see now,,,, oh yes ,, a pair of ear plugs
I do think that happens Syd yes. But I also think some people think we are a Proffesional bunch who do give answers out on anything. It can be a bit cross making but it dosent really matter . Just head them off to google. Or ignore. Splosh have a lovely winter holiday we will miss you....where are you going to where you have no Wi Fi ? Alan I know what you mean re ear plugs, I love silence. I've put in an order for an Ampersand board... I just want to try one. So hopefully I have been good enough.
I'm cruising around South America and I'm taking my earplugs with me, or rather ear plug as I only need one.
Syd, I don't think the forum is used as an agony aunt. If people want to join the forum and ask very basic questions, that's fine with me. What irritates me is the new starters who think we are professional valuers. A typical question might be "I found this old painting in the attic, the signature isn't that clear, can you indentify it, the artist and how much is it worth". It's rare that they'll thank people who give them advice.

I'd have to be in agony id Syd was my aunt... But...North Light...?
This is what a forum can be used for...combined knowledge gained from years of experience.
While I think it's nice to be able to transfer knowledge, (it is at the top of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs after all......) I do think quite a lot of people want spoonfeeding everything in life. Facebook is rife for it. Laziness in the extreme! Yours, Cantankerous of Lancashire.
