Did anybody see it? The idea is that an art gallery ( this week it was Manchester) anounces that one of ten named paintings has been replaced with a copy. The public is invited to spot the fake. Giles Coren chats to the visitors, and interviews the artist commissioned to paint the copy. After about 40 minutes the TV viewers learn which painting is a fake. At the end of the programme the gallery visitors are told which painting was the fake. About 26% of people who voted correctly identified it.
There didn't seem much point to the programme. It's interesting as an idea and it must have been fun to visit the gallery. And it was good to see the Pre- Raphaelite paintings included in the competition. But as a TV programme it was tedious.

I watched it and found it quite entertaining and informative. I learned something about the pre-Raphaelite brotherhood (not difficult as I knew little beyond the name and a few paintings about it beforehand) and enjoyed watching the process followed by the 'forger' (or copyist as he would prefer). Will watch future editions and hope they are as good, it certainly didn't send me to sleep!
