How does one go about exhibiting please?
Do all pictures need frames? ( as my frame colour/style may not suit someone's decor....dilemma )
Paintings stuck on with double sided tape on to another oversized sheet of stiff watercolour paper then wrapped in cellophane ?
Then working out cost for that painting?
Sorry so many questions, but all advise received would be useful.

It all depends where you are exhibiting. Either a solo exhibition or with a group of other people. If with other people there are usually rules and recommendations that everyone abides by.
Frames. The frame should be right for your painting though with other people's decor in mind( sorry not a thought I would normally have ) but if you have either very neutral or white plain wood .with a neutral mount if your pics need mounts .you will be on the right track. But it's your painting so your choice.
Price...where do you begin. Cost of materials. Cost of commission if you are paying it, and cost of hanging fee. Plus decide what you want for you in your pocket and add the rest on.
Unless you are a profesional I wouldn't charge an hourly rate. Cos if like me you paint for yourself anyhow. So I consider replenishing my paints and brushes etc...
If you are on your own don't forget advertising , posters , maybe chat up a local news paper and get a piece in the local rag. Face booking. Are you having a Private View? If so consider cost of drinks and nibbles ., invite the world and his wife and double them as only half the folk turn up.
Screens, hanging space, mirror plates , I could go on and on...maybe someone else can add the rest...it's hard work but it's good fun...good luck. 🙃

The Society itself should be able to give you all the information you need. Framed pictures tend to stand a better chance of being sold, or so I've always been advised. I tend to agree with you about framing choices, though - just because I like a frame (notorious here for preferring gilt frames, which are not the fashionable choice, but I don't care!) it doesn't mean that anyone else will; so I actually prefer to sell unframed and let the buyer do what they wish with framing.
If your work is being hung, it'll need a frame unless it's one of these canvases which can (I don't say should) be shown without one. If it's being viewed in a browser, then Jackson's sell the cellophane and card pockets (forgotten the name for them) in which you can securely display watercolours and acrylics; I suppose you could show oils in them too.... Cost: don't massively undercut those with whom you're showing, nor massively exceed them: you won't be popular if you do, either way. Whatever your pricing policy is, make it consistent - no wild variations between pictures for no obvious reason. The more advice you seek from the Society with which you're showing, and the individual members, the better you'll get on - most of us warm to those who seek our support, and tend to leave those who seem to think they know it all to get on with it, not realizing that it may just be shyness and reluctance to appear too new and inexperienced.
Other than all that - I'm wiv Sylv .... knows what she's talking about, that girl.
