Having read some comments on the gallery earlier today I was a bit disconcerted to see some one thinks that there is a lot of favouritism on the commenting.
I do know that some people have more comments than others but I wouldn't consider it either favouritism or cliquey , I suppose that is how it can appear but I hadn't considered that before .
I do tend to home in on paintings by people I know and I'm sure that happens in reverse. I also comment on paintings I really like no matter who the artist is...oh sorry there is one chap whose paintings are wonderful but as he really seems disinterested in comments I will just enjoy them sans remarking.
i suppose this is a carry on from "gallery comments" . But it's obviously how someone else sees the gallery...a tad sad.

When I find time to stroll through the gallery I tend to notice paintings by artists who exhibit art that makes me double take and i find out all about it and make a comment at the same time noticing any thanks he returns before i do so. Lke Sylvia if there are no thanks then its no comment One sees a fair amount of dross on the gallery which tends to remove entries at the speed of light but no doubt the dross producers think their offering is the bees knees and worthy of everyoe seeing it. reminds me of an art teacher ,i think , who said she was "glad to get home after looking at all these Hellish pictures" Well we all had to start sometimes and wish to forget our early efforts which in my case were possibly Hellish......Syd

This is something I picked up on too Sylvia ( and Russ if you read this ). At first It made me think, is this happening? But I don't think so. Commenting is very much a two way thing, that's how you get to "know" others on here. Sometimes comments are also just a way of saying " oh, I like what you're doing at the moment, not deep, just saying hello really. When you regularly comment on someone's work you often refer back to something too, it's all part of enjoying the site. Most people will respond to comments but there are those who don't - after a while I admit I stop commenting if this happens regularly. Sorry you felt this was happening but as far as I'm concerned, it's not the case.
