may moons ago I was visiting the louvre and managed to get reasonably close to the Mona Lisa painting and was very surprised to see a lovely realistic landscape in the background which set off La giaconda ok Mona Lisa then. I had noticed the background before but not in the flesh as it were.Quite an eye opener in my humble opinion. Some moons later I read that this was probably the forerunner to other artists to include landscapes in their paintings of clients Later it evolved into just landscapes on their own merit ,and rightly so.Who wants to see a daft man with a hunting gun standing formless next to an an equally vacant beautywith the landscape as an adjunct. Anybody have a comment on the former history theory above. cheers. Syd :->
