Hello recently in Britain's Lost Masterpieces I heard the terms colore and disequo (I cannot guarantee that I have spelled them correctly!) but cannot remember what they meant. Does anyone know? I do seem to recall that one of them was related to art schools in Venice and the other in Florence. Many thanks Peter
In Italian colore means colour or complexion. Disequo is not a common Italian word, I can only find fairly obscure references to it in Italian sites on the internet and nothing in the online dictionary I use for Italian. Equo means fair or just. See this link: http://www.wordreference.com/iten/equo Normally to alter an adjective to be the negative of the original, Italian puts an s in front of the word. For example, comfortable, comodo becomes scomodo, uncomfortable. Disequo might mean unfair in Italian. I haven't seen the programme you mentioned, so I'm guessing.
