Some of you may remember my Cs & Rs . For those of you out of the loop we had a regular member on here Amanda Bates who became involved in a Sketch book collaboration . . I pinched the idea from her and started a new collaboration. The idea is a group of artists all purchase a sketch book , preferably the same type , we all bought A5 Sea White , hard back books at about a fiver each. Each artist had their own theme ,each of us started our own theme in our own book . Every month the books were passed along and the theme continued by the new artist . My two themes ( we have done it twice) one was Body Parts and the other one was Drama. So lots to think about. And the fun bit was receiving a book and seeing all the different interpretations . Anyhow that is the concept. Ah the Rogue book was one we did as an extra one with other artists on a one off . This book we raffled and made about £ 100 for Syrian refugee children. David Perry from here on the forum joined in and we posted books too and from. Anyhow the point of all this explanation, is over a year ago I emailed a local gallery attached to a prestigious theatre fo ask for exhibition space. Which hopefully is going to happen soonish. NOW , what I am wondering has anyone any experience of exhibiting sketch books ? I have done a few in a couple of solo exhibitions I have had , just opened at one double page and displayed under a Perspex sheet. But there is so much to look at in each book. We would like people to be able to see them properly. So ideas please. Also some finished paintings are to be hung these paintings are from the sketches, these will be displayed in the usual way hung on walls with mirror plates. My 19years old Grand daughter who is at Uni in Leeds in her first year of doing Fine Art, has introduced this to other students so it’s growing. Apparently there is a word wide group but I would think the postage would be a bit steep. Ideas please and thanks for wading through this. 🙃
I would think about visiting a Snappy-snaps or similar and getting them to scan and print the pages so that all the images from the sketchbook can be displayed.
On the spot I can only think of photoing each sketchbook or part of, and printing this off to leaf through. How expensive tho'? Probably not very.
Sylvia, How about scanning the pages and putting them on a digital photo frame to be placed under cover next to the sketch book?
