Children in business

Please read this thread to the end, there is something for all of us to know ! For members who follow my Blog it is no news that I have helped in a Primary school for a class of 9 years old to raise money with their work. We were two artists who had volontered to help. We each gave a session to the classroom, having different ideas. The other artist was Shane Record recently published in the Artist Magazine. (It might give you ideas of what can be done) One big table was with their own Portraits for sale, executed with their teacher, Two tables with big landscapes to be auctionned. One table with greeting cards for sale (made by them of course) One table with a competition Shane Record had come with a great idea : Copying one of his paintings he gave each of the children a square piece of paper and all of them painting a part of his painting. The pieces were put together to create a new painting done by the children. Each little painting had their names on it. It was put under glass and auctionned. Prints were made and sold. One table with the work done with me : Their little seascape that they are created while watching what I was doing. They had used their cotton wool for the sun and three primary colours. All were auctionned too. One mother came to me and said : "One of my children had done a similar project a couple of years ago. They had made money making products with cooking. All that I heard during that time was the word Money, money, money. This time the children were so excited to produce their work of art that money was never mentionned until tonight" Isnt' the same for us artists ? We create with passion and it is when all is finished that we think that we might make a bit of money out of it !
