Every morning I have the same view into our back garden through windows with panes about 18 x 22cms. I have always been intetested in shapes, centralising, perspective, lines and each morning I have this or similar view and am constantly lining up something either organic or not. This morning for instance I was trying to line up the top of a larch lap fence post in the dead centre of the pane! This has resulted in my works such as Clothes Dryer and Roses, Man and Nature, Part of a Shed, Symmetry of Oaks, Up the Garden; all in the POL galleries. In my old style and self I would never have put them on paper, it was only an eye interest/fixation, but now it's a painterly interest hence those works. Things like sky holes, matching angles, symmetry in organic structures and of course changes in tones within the subkect. It is like going back to ones roots as I did some weeks back. The town I was born and bred in had no interest for me in my teens, but how it has an abundances of features and buildings, which I wish I had recorded in those days of sport, pubs and girls
Have had to log out and log in again but first had to clear history. I've just inadvertently cleared everything! No way of getting back on one site because I've lost the password! Oh well, and that was all so that I could reply to you Derek. So it's all your fault! Anyway, I was just going to say that I find myself doing similar things, noticing things that I hadn't appreciated before but were all there all the time. Something to do with age?
