As some of you may know my husband had a fall last June . This has left him as a tetraplegic. He is now in the rehabilitation ward of an amazing hospital . . RJAH in Gobowen on the boundary between Wales and England. He is now exploring what he can “do” and has a sketchbook with him he is learning to write once more , I have taken in various pens ,pencils etc. The best one we have found to use is a Sharpie which has a thick fibre tip. But , he sadly cannot take off the top himself...yet ! No one has the time to do these little things for him unless I am there. So what I am looking for is a felt tip type pen with a retractable top , he can push one of those up and down. He used to have very beautiful hand writing plus he could draw . So any ideas or thoughts would be very gratefully received.
We hve retractable sharpies at home sylvia D
You can get grips to go around pencils which may help too. I'm so glad you have kept your sense of humour Sylvia, it must be/have been a very traumatic time for you both and I do hope your husband improves with time.
May I join with Syd and others and wish you both all the best Sylvia.
I certainly wish you and your husband all the best, Sylvia.
All the best to you and your husband, Sylvia - you've had a lousy 12 or more months, but I know that, so far as we can be, we're all here for you. Keep going, ducks - we've little choice in the end other than to keep trundling on, like a tank over a minefield.
Best wishes Sylvia, you are doing very well in extremely trying circumstances, I suspect little things like retractable pens become very important. Hopefully the little things will add together to make progress.
Type in occupational therapy pens into google and it wll show lots of gadgets ect , which maybe of help.
All the best to you both Sylvia. I wasn't aware of your husbands fall.... Life can be very challenging, with many twists and turns which test you so much, yet humour, positivity and strength does pull you through. We are all here lurking around the forum..... Ant 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
