I am using box canvas for acrylics, and would appreciate hearing how other artists treat the box edges? Whether it is to carry the colour you are using over the edge, or some other way, perhaps painting the edges in a neutral colour? Also, how is a box canvas hung? And is it better to re-gesso with another coat over the commercially ready prepared gessoed canvas...or does that depend on the quality? I do notice that some need a lot more paint layers than others, which adds richness and depth (?) Or perhaps I should give the canvas a coat of say weak umber before I start, to get rid of that whiteness? And am I right in thinking that canvas saves a lot of time and (more importantly) expense, in that there is no framing to be done....though perhaps work should be glazed?........very much an ignoramus here.... I would appreciate any and all advice........many thanks in advance. *-) (?) *-) (?) :-(
