Charles Sovek, who died in 2007, published several excellent books. His widow Peggy keeps his excellent website going at: http://www.sovek.com I have always found his advice worth taking. Perhaps you'd like to answer a few of the questions he posed at: http://sovek.com/speaking/archive/avoidingthepretty.htm John
His questions - they can be reversed and still apply. If you do street scenes ** a lot then maybe it's time to change, and so on. It IS a good method of stepping outside your comfort zone -- but then that's what a comfort zone is for... art is as much your own enjoyment as the viewer's; if you stay in your comfort zone then you're enjoying your art.... step into hard zone and you tend to get frustrated and stop enjoying it. (** I absolutely detest street-scene photography, but that's another matter) My answers: No No Yes - I use ink... it tends to be the one colour or shades of it.. No No
