What do you lovely Artists think about the description En plein air? The definition is, as you will know:- "En plein air is a French expression which means "in the open air", and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors, which is also called peinture sur le motif ("painting on the ground") in French". Why is this expression used so much now, rather than saying "painting outdoors". Does it sound more professionally artistic, is it a case of "jumping on the band wagon" so to speak or is it just a buzz word? I go for the latter. What do you think?
