I use a print-making roller quite a lot when making large drawings with graphite and gesso—to roll on the gesso. Also work with a razor blade to scrape back into the drawing. And a diffuser to spray on dilute gesso.

palette knives, sponges, rollers, cling film, credit card, edge of paper, torn pieces of paper, fingers, cocktail stick, the pipette from the acrylic ink bottle, other end of the brush :-)
