artwoman2 - 2012-06-14 10:44 AM I use Picassa3 to store photos of my paintings but cannot upload a cropped photo to the Gallery. When I try to upload the cropped image, the original image comes up, warts and all. Can anyone help please?
You need to "Compress them for a web-page" My most recent image posted...the sunset...is 2.43Mb... The compressed image posted here on POL is 76.8Kb... Images above 1,000Kb/1Mb often fail to load to POL... Cropping only tidies-up the edges...
I suppose I could ask the obvious question..........not wishing to insult your intelligence. Having cropped the picture - you do save it? And - do you save it under a new name, So that, when you upload to the web, you can identify the right file? And yes, mels right, picassa will allow you to "export" a compressed picture, so th efile is smaller for uploading to the web.
I save my high resolution [big JPEG files] Images of a the completed work of art, those I use for my business as 'MeltemiArt'... I save those lower resolution [smaller JPG files] as 'WebPageArt'... It needs to be clear at the single glance [difficult for me] that I'm in the right file etc. there is a third file of 'CatalogueImages' that give the postage-stamp image for the Studio.Catalogue. And the sensible thing is to have these files updated regularly and backed-up on an external storage device....I nearly lost them all when the last computer [Maybellene1] commited terminal suicide.
You might also have to refresh your screen, or even close and reopen your browser, then post the cropped image. Files are cached and your pc might be being really `helpful` and sending the cached image?
Thankyou so much to everyone who answered my question. I willl use your suggestions as soon as possible and hopefully you will see the results when I finally get my painting of my friends yacht 'Windara' in the gallery!
Finally uploaded my painting of Windara to the gallery thanks to the good advice received from everyone who helped me on the forum. I still struggled a bit but have now made notes which make sense to me! Hopefully, I will cope a lot better in future. Thanks again everyone
Well..In the " Race to the Stars" I shall add....I crop my work in Picasa 3, then straightaway go 'Save As' from Picasa's 'File' and save the cropped version to a file I have called 'My Paintings' , which I keep on the Desktop. So far the only difficulty I have had has been when I have included an inadmissable symbol to the title; easily overcome..re-think the title. (Please, Dawn, add a posting towards the next star) :$ :$ :$ Cheek!
No wash & brush-up? No Drinking water?
Hello everyone, I was just wondering if there were any people living in Normandy, France who would be interested in getting together to paint etc or even just for coffee and a chat? I'm in the Eure but on the border with Calvados and am willing to travel a reasonable distance.
