I'll start this with my standard 'each to their own' statement as I never seek to inflict my views on others uninvited. Sylvia, I understand where you're coming from, but I disagree. It in no way shows any disrespect to any of those involved in this terrible incident...maybe I would feel differently if it was somehow being flippant or had some sort of nonesense agenda but I don't think that is the case. I'm a superficial soul most of the time so it's not something I do, but maybe the artist created this to process their feelings on a very emotive event. I certainly don't find it harder to look at than the news reports that we have constantly seen for the last two days.

This is a hard one Sylvia. I'm a very emotional person at the best of times and am finding it very hard looking at these harrowing pictures on the news. To escape I came onto the site and saw this! Yes, of course people are moved by tragedy on such a large scale and I can understand certain artists wanting to grab their brushes and pour their emotions into their paintings, however I would have preferred that this wasn't here at the present time when they are still sifting the debris for bodies of families. My one consolation is that Jackie has not painted people trapped in their flats or hurling their children out of the windows! I well remember the fascination of people with cameras showing again and again the people trying to escape the fires after the Twin Towers tragedy. Our responses, however will differ as much as our emotions allow.

I've had a look at the painting and can see both points of view but on balance I think it is insensitive to post it so soon after the event when relatives and friends, and others, are still in the midst of the trauma. Artistic expression by all means but with consideration for the feelings of others.
