Just to let you know that somehow i cant get anything on POL because I. am not connected with the internet they say. That of course means i cant get the forum. I cant understand it as i can still email ! Could you please let it be known on the forum that i cannot comment at all until i get things sorted....I am not being rude! Have just received this from Syd.
Aww poor Syd, hope he gets it sorted soon.
Place won't be the same without him
Odd - he can email but not access the internet? Beyond my limited comprehension, I'm afraid. Any experts on Ipads out there?
Yay!
Good news if he is back, hope it's all sorted now.
I ran into a similar problem Syd when trying to connect my smartphone to my wifi (hadn't previously had a smartphone). Needed the modem code, old modem, code not visible anywhere. Geek checked through wherever these things are stored in the program, still no code! Fortunately geek knew how to give the modem a new password. Apparently the more modern modems do show the code on the device. Good to have you back, anyway.
Syd, if it's any consolation, I have only just got over a complete phobia about my own website - for similar reasons, i.e. I couldn't tell what was going on (or wasn't) and first got frustrated, then furious with myself, and then I found I just couldn't approach the blessed thing any more. Fortunately, I managed to force myself in the end and have taken the steps I need to take to start actually working on it again, if that makes any sense: not being brought up with these things as young people are, I've just never been comfortable with them, they don't come naturally to me, and I can and did work myself into a total state over it. I could feel the blood pressure going up - so if your son-in-law happens to be on the Isle of Wight at any point, I'm sure I'd have a few technical jobs for him. Failing that, I'll ask an 8 year old - they know their way around these things far better than I do.
