Hi
There is a wonderful exhibition at the Tate Britain of Turner's unfinished oils, his watercolours, sketches and a room containing his printwork and more sketches where you are encouraged to have a go at copying some of his landscape sketches made at different locations in Europe.I had to go to London on a more gruelling matter, but I had a great time in this exhibition. Has anyone else seen this? What do you think? I highly recommend it if you're in central London. Lose the Turner prize, go up the stairs from the main entrance and swing a right! It's absolutely free like the Snakes in the Grass song!
Turner's watercolours and sketches are surprizingly simple when you consider how he developed techniques and is thought of as the forefather of impressionism. I was in awe copying lines that were taken from his original drawings, it's a first for me. Lucky Londoner artists who have constant access to this; t's really inspiring.
Gu'day, mates! :-D
