A short while ago a discussion on painting with knives prompted me to have a go, so I took a watercolour sketch I did in Rhodes in April and set off, starting at the top and working down. I was really pleased with the result until I got to the foreground, scraped it off twice and finally picked up brushes to finish off. Great fun learning techniques as I went along from smearing broad strokes like cake icing to cutting in the wave peaks. I really wanted to get away from my tendency to be too fiddly and in that respect it worked for me. Had to order a load more paint after though.
