Watcha All,had a couple of visitors to my latest effort http://www.painters-online.co.uk/gallery/picture.asp?addcom=&text=&id=64622who I managed to puzzle as to how I got my reference material, I'l try and show it here.First I put some random strokes on pastel paper and scanned it.Then I selected a photo, I had taken, here, the old Nene, in B&W, then scanned it.I opened up the 2 images in Photoshop, applied 'screen' to the Nene image, twice to make it lighter.I then made sure that both pics had the same resolution, then moved the pastel pic on to the Nene pic as a layer.Changed the blending mode in the layers palette to 'multiply' and reduced the 'opacity' of the pastel pic so I could still see the colours and the faint image off the Nene underneath. Then flattened the imageSaved the thing in my source file. I can now paint direct from the screen, or make a sketch with colour notes and dump the computer image. The important thing is to use the colour scheme as just that, to give ideas of what you want.Sorry, I couldn't work out how to get the images after each bit of text.bestMick
